This community brings together resources that quantify and describe water and land resources within the Ewaso Ngiro basin and the constituent sub catchments. These resources include baselines and surveys, hydrological and meteorological monitoring network, resource assessment methods, tools and results, the Ewaso Ngiro environmental monitoring network as well as resource assessment methods, tools and results. This information is aimed at educating different practitioners in various fields as well as the local community. The information is also useful to policy and decision makers hence supports policy formulation processes.
CETRAD has revised the sub catchment directory which covers 21 sub catchment of Upper Ewaso Ng’iro catchment. We are also rolling out live data interface to the WRUAs which supports management of water resources at grassroots level. In addition, we have identified and mapped out hot-spots of water scarcity in the catchment.
The resources available here can be used and quoted freely. They are a public good that is intended to improve water and land resources management and ultimately reduce resource conflicts in Kenya. The resources should however not be resold or used for profit. The copyright of these resources is held by CETRAD on behalf of the peoples of the areas described. Reference to these resources should be properly cited.
