Abstract:
This document aims to address the theme ‘to contribute to improved water resources management through the development of appropriate water management tools, leading to informed decision making in water resource management and conflict resolution’ of the Mpala project and respond to water information needs and resolutions raised by stakeholders and basin inhabitants during the participatory workshop on Partnerships And Information Needs For Improved Water Use, Allocation And Conflict Resolution held in August 2002, which recommended promotion and adoption of ‘Technologies For Suitable Water Management’. The workshop identified water problems as water scarcity, high variability of water availability in space and time and inadequate access during low flows. The problems cited by basin inhabitants through participatory appraisals and reiterated in the workshop
